AMARAVATI; Like Cyberabad(Hyderabad) three decades ago, this Google data center(Visakhapatnam) will also be a game changer for the entire state.of Andhra Pradesh.
With the start of operations of the Google data center, Visakhapatnam will become a digital technology gateway. Earlier, everyone used to search on Google, but Google searched for the right place in Andhra Pradesh, said Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu.today. The Google data center will become a reality by September 2028, he said.
He said that with the foundation stone of the $ 15 billion Google data center in Visakhapatnam being laid today, it will be a historic day for the digital technology revolution.
Chandrababu said that with the establishment of the Google data center in Visakhapatnam, it will soon emerge as a growth engine for the Indian economy.
The foundation stone was laid in the presence of Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, Google Cloud Vice President Bikash Kole, Bharti Airtel Vice Chairman Rakesh Bharti Mittal, US Consul General in Hyderabad Laura Williams, Jeet Adani of Adani Group and other dignitaries from the digital technology sector.
The Chief Minister said that the AI Centre will also function as a secretary in the CM’s office along with four secretaries working in the CMO.
The Chief Minister said that after the Google Data Centre starts operations, there will be ample employment opportunities for the youth, reverse migration will take place and Visakhapatnam will become a destination for talent.
The Chief Minister said that Google is setting up a cloud data centre with an investment of $ 15 billion in partnership with AdaniConnect and Airtel Nextra. A 1 gigawatt hyperscale AI data centre is being set up. The state government has allotted 601 acres in Tarlawada, Rambilli and Adivaviram areas for this project.
Before the event, the Chief Minister inspected the Google Experience Zone. The Chief Minister congratulated IT Minister Nara Lokesh for taking the initiative to bring Google to Visakhapatnam.
When Lokesh first visited Google, few people imagined that such a project would come to Visakhapatnam. But he made it happen.
He said that when Google planned to set up an AI data centre in India, he approached the Prime Minister for support. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised full support for Google’s investment in Andhra Pradesh and he kept his word. The project has become a reality with Lokesh’s initiative and the Prime Minister’s support.
He expressed confidence that international partners like Adani Group and Airtel will complete the project at the earliest, and requested that it be started by September 2028.
Assuring full support for the project, the Chief Minister said there is no shortage of water in the region. ‘We will bring Godavari water to Visakhapatnam within 60 days.’ Describing Visakhapatnam as a global city, the Chief Minister announced several major development initiatives.
The inauguration of the Bhogapuram International Airport by Prime Minister Modi in July, the first batch of exports from the ArcelorMittal steel plant by 2028, and the production of ingot solar wafers by Renew Power are some of the highlights.
Anakapalle district is also set to emerge as another major industrial growth hub, similar to Rangareddy.

The Chief Minister said that twenty-five percent of the total investments coming to Andhra Pradesh come here. He said that AP is number 1 not only in MoUs and investments, but also in launching projects. He further said that the Polavaram project will be completed and dedicated to the nation by 2027. Several Union Ministers, State Ministers, public representatives and officials attended the event.
