There are many brothers in politics. Some get MLA positions. Others will also hold MP positions. But it can be said that it is a rare record for both brothers to hold the posts of Union Ministers. Such a rare record was achieved by SPB Pattabhi Rama Rao and SBPBK Satyanarayana,Rao brothers of Kapileswarapuram zamindars in the joint East Godavari district. One became a Union Minister in the Congress Party and the other in the Bharatiya Janata Party.(BJP) It should be said that no one in the Telugu states has such a rare record. There are several interesting points in the political discourse of these brothers. Today’s generation feels like they are aura. Such things increase the awareness of the politics of the time.
Among the Zamindar brothers, SPB Pattabhirama Rao never faced defeat. He achieved a hat-trick as MLC and MP. The Congress party won elections from Pamarru constituency in 1952, 1955 and 1962 respectively. The most surprising thing is that he took the post of first minister from our district.East Godavari.
He left the assembly and went to the Rajamahendravaram Parliament. He also achieved a hat-trick from the Congress party as an MP. In 1971, CPI candidate Chitturi Prabhakara Chowdary won against Since then no one has been able to surpass that record. Later in the 1977 election he won against BLD candidate MS Subbaraju. In 1980, when the Congress party split into two, he contested from Congress-I. Gadam Kamaladevi contested against him from Reddy Congress. Pattabhi Rama Rao won with a huge majority in those days when voters were less. In 1983, Pattabhirama Rao took charge as Union Minister of Finance and Industries.
As Pattabhi Rama Rao did not contest in 1984, Congress gave a chance to his younger brother Satyanarayana Rao. But then TDP candidate Chundru Srihari Rao won. Sbpbk Satyanarayana Rao served as ZP Chairman for 12 years and MLC for another twelve years. Even if he took up these positions, he won a good name directly from the people
Later he joined the BJP. Then in 1999, SBPBK Satyanarayana Rao contested as BJP candidate and won against Congress candidate Chitturi Ravindra. This is his first and last victory in direct elections. The then Prime Minister Vajpayee gave him an important post as Minister of State for Agriculture keeping in mind the family prestige.
Thus, the posts of Union Ministers went to the brothers. Kapileswarapuram zamindar’s brothers Pattabhi Rama Rao and Satyanarayana Rao also became Union ministers. Moreover In the name of Sarvaraya, various industrial enterprises are being established and providing employment opportunities to thousands of people. Apart from this, sbpbk Satyanarayana Rao has also given life to the ancient dream and the traditional dream. Even now, the Harikatha pathasala self employement for women and Vedic schools founded by him (in Kapileswarapuram) are being conducted divinely. These schools have good recognition all over the world.
