AMARAVATI:  State Women’s Commission Chairperson Rayapati Sailaja attended the awareness program on women’s protection on Friday at the local Railway Institute Hall in Vijayawada on the topic of Stop Trafficking – Strengthen Protection.

Speaking on the occasion, she said that illegal trafficking of women and children for sexual exploitation has become a serious social problem. She said that it is very necessary to stop this problem through anti-human trafficking measures. She said that the main objective of this meeting is to provide reassurance to the victims and provide them with protection. She said that the officers and staff were given comprehensive guidance in this program on issues such as how to talk to the victims, especially those who are in trauma, how to investigate cases, and how to collect vital information from them.

She said that currently 126 trafficking cases have been registered in Andhra Pradesh, and although the situation is better compared to other states, they are focusing on reducing the number of cases. She revealed that they discussed issues such as using technology more, identifying the accused quickly through the Shakti app and other digital tools, and speeding up the investigation of cases.

She said that it is necessary to increase coordination between departments to ensure that the accused are punished (Conviction Rate), and that they are focusing on preventing frauds in the name of jobs, love, and forced labor trafficking.

The Chairperson said that trafficking can be completely prevented through precautions and vigilance, and that through this meeting, the focus has been on not only teaching superior investigation methods to the officers, but also reducing the severity of cases in the state.

RPF SP Shanmugham said… Former IPS officer P.M. Nair acted as the trainer and provided special training to the officers. The meeting was attended by Railway Divisional Manager, RPF, GRP, Women Development Department (WCD), Child Welfare Committee (CWC) officials attend.
