Proteogenics is a pioneering force in the biotechnology sector of Andhra Pradesh, becoming the first biotechnology company in the state to venture into plasma protein therapies, a growing sector of India’s healthcare, said Andhra Pradesh Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President and Gajuwaka MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao.

At a time when India is trying to strengthen its healthcare and reduce its dependence on key treatments, Proteogenics Life Sciences is a promising example of indigenous innovation in the biotechnology sector, he said.

Srinivasa Rao today visited the company, located in the Genome Valley in Visakhapatnam. He discussed the company’s ongoing activities and long-term vision with the management.

In a sector where the country is still significantly dependent on imports for many life-saving plasma-based medicines, Proteogenics’ s efforts to build indigenous capabilities are highly commendable, he said.

Founded in 2021 by a group of Non-Resident Indian (NRI) medical professionals, Proteogenics has rapidly become a leader in developing key plasma-based products including Intravenous Immunoglobulin (IVIG), Human Albumin, Factor VIII, Factor IX, and Fibrin Sealant Kits.

He expressed confidence that in the coming years, Proteogenics will not only meet the growing domestic demand for plasma-based therapies in India, but will also establish a strong presence in international markets.

Assuring the company of its continued support, Srinivasa Rao said that the government will extend all possible support to institutions working to strengthen public health and enhance India’s medical self-sufficiency.

He said that achieving long-term healthcare security requires close collaboration between governments, industry, researchers and society, especially in areas that directly affect the well-being of millions of people.
