AMARAVATI; ( USA )A shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, the largest annual celebration of American politics and media circles, is causing a stir. An unidentified man opened fire outside the ballroom packed with top leaders, prominent journalists and celebrities at the Washington Hilton Hotel on Saturday night. Following this incident, top leaders including US President Donald Trump, Vice President J.D. Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio were rushed from the venue by Secret Service agents.
Around 8:30 pm in America, about 5 to 8 rounds of gunfire were heard outside the hotel. This suddenly caused chaos in the ballroom. Hundreds of guests took cover under tables for safety. When the gunshots were heard, Secret Service agents surrounded the president, shouting “get down,” and took him to a safe area. Although Trump stumbled slightly, he was not injured, White House sources confirmed.
A law enforcement officer was reportedly hit by a bullet in the incident. However, it is reported that the bulletproof vest he was wearing saved his life. The suspect was immediately taken into custody by police. The shooter is currently alive in police custody, but his details and the motive for the attack have not yet been officially released. After the shooting, National Guard forces entered the hotel and took control of the situation.
Shortly after the suspect was arrested, President Trump responded through his Truth social account. The shooter has been found.. Secret Service, police did a great job. I recommended that the show go on, but I will abide by the decision of the security forces, he said.
However, the organizers announced that the dinner event for that night was canceled due to security reasons. The incident, which broke through the tight security cordon in Washington, D.C., has now become a hot topic of discussion.
