Another step forward has been taken in the ‘Make in India’ program towards self-reliance in the Indian defense sector. The most critical components of the Rafale fighter jets, which are the backbone of the Indian Air Force, will now be manufactured in Hyderabad.
To this end, an agreement has been signed between Dassault Aviation, the parent company of Rafale of France, and Tata Advanced Systems (TASL).
According to this agreement, the main components of the Rafale fighter jets will be manufactured at the Tata Advanced Systems plant in Hyderabad. This is the first time that Rafale aircraft components are being manufactured outside France. This agreement is a testament to the progress that India is making in the aerospace sector and its growing manufacturing capacity.
Tata Advanced Systems aims to start the production of these components by the financial year 2028. The company will expedite the necessary arrangements for this.
Speaking on the occasion, Eric Trappier, Chairman and CEO of Dassault Aviation, said, “This is a decisive step in further expanding our operations in India. We are pleased to further increase our opportunities to provide services to the Indian defense sector. This decision will help meet the military requirements by providing quality services.”
Sukaran Singh, CMD, Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL), expressed his delight at the agreement. “This is a milestone in the history of the Indian defense sector. This agreement with Dassault Aviation once again demonstrates the manufacturing skills and capabilities of Tata Advanced Systems to the world. It marks a significant step forward in the development of India’s aerospace and defense systems,” he said.
