As part of the A P government’s Health Andhra Pradesh goal to provide better medical services to the people of Rayalaseema, Sri Venkateswara Medical Science Institute (SWIMS) is being developed as the best hospital in the state, said the Chairman of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams Board of Trustees, Shri BR Naidu.

He inaugurated the modern medical equipment of PET Citi Scan, Gamma Camera, High Energy Advanced Linear Accelerator set up at a cost of Rs. 55 crores at the SWIMS Hospital in Tirupati.

Better medical treatment is being provided at a low cost at the SWIMS Hospital. TTD Chairman BR. Naidu said that the PET Citi Scan, Gamma Camera, High Energy Advanced Linear Accelerator medical equipment, which was launched with the funds of the Sri Balaji Arogya Varaprasadini Scheme for cancer medical treatment, will be very useful for the patients.

He said that the PET CT scan device is worth about Rs. 18 crore will be useful in early detection of cancer, brain-related diseases and heart diseases. He explained that the gamma camera is worth Rs. 5 crore will show the function of organs and tissue status in the form of images and will be used to assess cancer, infections, heart, brain, thyroid, bones and kidney function.

Similarly, the High Energy Advanced Linear Accelerator worth Rs. 29 crore will transmit high-energy X-rays or electron beams precisely on the cancer tumor, which will cause less damage to the surrounding healthy tissue. He said that this machine will be useful in treating cancer in parts like the brain, breast, prostate and lungs.

SWIMS Director and Vice-Chancellor Dr. RV Kumar said that better medical facilities have been established in the hospital with the support of TTD for 30 years with the help of Rs. 450 crore. On the orders of the Chief Minister, TTD Chairman Sri. BR.  SWIMS Director and Vice Chancellor Dr. RV Kumar revealed that under the guidance of Naidu, several buildings are being constructed with an unprecedented amount of Rs. 600 crore.

He reminded that MRI and CT stimulator machines were started six months ago with the help of donors. He said that a full-fledged cancer block will be started in the next two months. SWIMS has made various medical equipment available with donations of Rs. 105 crore.
