AMARAVATI: TDP President Palla Srinivasa Rao severely criticized former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, alleging that he exposed his deceitful political nature by bypassing the Legislative Assembly—a constitutional platform—and instead utilizing his own media outlets to publish “blatant lies” aimed at misleading the public.
He stated that Jagan Mohan Reddy distorted facts, misrepresented the findings of the CAG report, and avoided discussing public issues within the Assembly; furthermore, his act of merely reading from a pre-prepared script underscores the deteriorating standards of his politics. Srinivasa Rao questioned whether Jagan Mohan Reddy—along with his “Team-11″—had not betrayed the electorate by staging a walkout immediately after the Governor’s address.
He alleged that the former Chief Minister—who had spearheaded an administration he described as having “utterly ruined” the state’s economy over five years—is now attempting to distort the CAG report to conceal the damage inflicted upon the state’s financial system during the YSRCP regime.
Referring to the CAG report for the 2024-25 financial year, Srinivasa Rao noted that the report records borrowings amounting to ₹81,071 crore, a significant portion of which was incurred during the tenure of the previous government.
He pointed out that under the YSRCP administration, borrowings totaling approximately ₹27,205 crore were incurred in the months of April and May alone. Citing official statistics, he stated that during the YSRCP’s five-year rule, the state’s total debt had ballooned to nearly ₹9.74 lakh crore.
He detailed that these borrowings comprise ₹4.38 lakh crore raised through the Reserve Bank of India, ₹2.48 lakh crore raised through government corporations, and approximately ₹80,000 crore incurred under public account liabilities.
Furthermore, he stated that pending bills owed to contractors and for various welfare schemes amount to approximately ₹1.13 lakh crore, while arrears owed to government employees stand at ₹21,980 crore. The combined liabilities of the Civil Supplies Corporation and the power distribution companies amount to nearly ₹70,000 crore. He added that these figures were estimated to run into crores.
Srinivasa Rao criticized Jagan Mohan Reddy for maintaining silence regarding loans secured through corporations and those obtained with government guarantees, even while repeatedly claiming that his administration had borrowed only ₹3 lakh crore.
He asserted that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s foresight and credibility were the driving forces behind the resurgence of investment inflows into the state.
He noted that numerous companies which had exited the state during the tenure of the previous government are now preparing to return. “The state, having endured severe economic losses over the past five years, is now firmly on the path of development under Chandrababu Naidu’s leadership—all within a span of just twenty-two months,” he remarked.

Srinivasa Rao further argued that attempts to mislead the public using “fabricated statistics concocted at the Tadepalli Palace” would ultimately prove futile, as the unvarnished facts regarding the state’s financial health are bound to inevitably come to light.
