The Andhra Pradesh State Government Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand’s term of office has been extended by another three months, i.e. from December 1 to February 28, 2026, through a government of India order number 2230 issued by the state’s General Administration Department on Saturday.
The government issued these orders after the Central Government approved the extension of the term of CS Vijayanand by three months.
Actually, while CS Vijayanand was supposed to retire on the 30th of this month, the government issued these orders in the wake of the Union Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) issuing extension orders extending his tenure by another three months, i.e. from December 1 to February 28, 2026, as per the wishes of the state government. CS Vijayanand will continue in office till February 28.

Later, the government appointed G. Sai Prasad, the current Special Chief Secretary of the State Water Resources Department and Special Chief Secretary of the CMO EO, of the 1991 IAS batch, as the next Chief Secretary to the government from March 1, 2026, the same order said. After Vijayanand’s retirement, G. Sai Prasad will take charge as the next CS from March 1, 2026.
