National level cooperative workshop begins in Tirupati

The Ministry of Cooperation (MoC), Government of India, in collaboration with the Department of Cooperation, Government of Andhra Pradesh, organized a two-day national level workshop on “Development of Cooperative Sector – Towards Digitalization, Grain Storage, M-PACS Expansion and Strengthening Cooperative Banking” at the Taj Hotel, Tirupati on Wednesday morning.

The two-day conference was inaugurated by the State Cooperative Commissioner and Registrar of Cooperative Societies A. Babu, Secretary, Ministry of Cooperation, Government of India Dr. Shri Ashish Kumar Bhutani, Additional Secretaries Pankaj Kumar Bansal, Ravindra Kumar Agarwal, Joint Secretaries Anand Kumar Jha and Raman Kumar.
Later, they were presented with bouquets of flowers and presented with idols of Lord Shiva. They inspected the stalls set up in the conference premises.
On this occasion, Dr. Ashish Kumar Bhutani, Secretary, Ministry of Cooperation, Government of India, said that the fifth workshop in the series held every three months is being organized in Tirupati town today, and these programs are being organized regularly and continuously, which is a testament to the success of all of us.
He said that this time, the main activities of the ministry will be discussed in the program they are organizing. He said that the states participating in this workshop will give their presentations, and some other organizations will participate online. It is said that this year, the International Day of Cooperation is coming to an end.
He said that there is a need for more in-depth ideas from the states in the field of cooperative banking. He said that there will be a special session on this topic. He said that the steps taken by the ministry so far and the steps to be taken together with the states will be discussed in this. He said that we will also talk about the National Cooperative Policy launched recently in July, and we have already written letters to the states.
He said that the issues discussed in the last meeting of Cooperation Ministers held in Missouri and the implementation status of the policies will also be reviewed. He said that the efforts being made in new sectors will also be discussed. He said that the states should participate in cooperative taxis, the insurance sector, etc. will be examined.

Some states have taken good initiatives in the milk and dairy sector following the Amul model, and they will be seen in the form of presentations, and the purpose of this workshop is to listen to the voice of the states more than the center.
He said that the cooperative sector has expanded across the country by setting up a separate Ministry of Cooperation in 2021. It has provided a unique administrative, legal and policy framework to strengthen the cooperative movement, and the Government of India is implementing several schemes with the vision of “Sahakar se Samriddhi” — progress through cooperation, said State Cooperation Commissioner and Registrar of Cooperative Societies A. He said that cooperative societies are no longer just catering to the credit needs of farmers, but are expanding into health services (Jan Aushadhi Kendras), food processing, drone-based fertilizer distribution and other new areas.
