Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has instructed the officials to speed up the work to make all the villages in the state clean with efficient waste management. He said that garbage should be collected from houses every day and wet garbage should be converted into compost and dry garbage should be handed over to agencies.
The Chief Minister instructed the officials to call tenders next month to invite agencies in this regard. He also said that Dwakra women should be given the responsibility of converting wet garbage into fertilizer everywhere.
A total of 52 clusters should be set up in the state, two in each mandal headquarters and two in each district, where garbage should be graded and sold to the required agencies or the garbage should be removed from there.
He said that garbage should not be brought to any panchayat and thrown on the road. The Chief Minister, who held a review with officials at the Secretariat on Thursday on the circular economy, suggested that awards be given to panchayats and individuals who have managed waste effectively on October 2. He wanted the entire system to be in place by October 2, 2026.
Zero waste should be our goal. Prepare an action plan to implement it in every panchayat. The Panchayat Raj Department should coordinate with Swachh Andhra Pradesh and the Pollution Control Board.
The issue of garbage collection should be examined by setting up electric vehicles. A study should be conducted to ensure that waste generated in agricultural waste and allied sectors contribute to the circular economy. A ‘circular economy policy’ should be formulated. The Rajasthan model, which is ahead in the circular economy, should be examined,’ said the Chief Minister.
On the other hand, he inquired about the progress of waste to energy plants being set up in Nellore, Rajahmundry, Kadapa and Kurnool.
