People should be alert – Meteorological Department warns people not to stand under trees and near large hoardings during thunderstorms

A trough has spread from the North Andhra coast to Maharashtra via Chhattisgarh, said Prakhar Jain, Managing Director of the Disaster Management Authority. He said that another trough has spread from the interior of Karnataka to Rayalaseema and Tamil Nadu to the Comorin region.
Due to this, there is a possibility of cloudy weather for the next two days along with scattered moderate to heavy rains. People are advised to be alert as there is a possibility of gusty winds.

Light to moderate rains with thundershowers are expected in coastal Andhra districts, and light rains are expected at some places in Rayalaseema districts.
Tuesday (30-06-2026)
Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Manyam, Polavaram, Kakinada, Konaseema, East Godavari, West Godavari, Eluru and NTR districts are likely to experience light to moderate rains with thundershowers at isolated places, while light rains are likely to occur at some places in other districts.
As of 4 pm on Sunday, 68.2 mm of rainfall was recorded in Mangalagiri in Guntur district, 52.5 mm in Rajam in Vizianagaram district, 51.5 mm in Kakumanu in Guntur district, 45.2 mm in Tadepalli, 41.5 mm in Kavuluru in NTR district, and 39.9 mm in Bhattiprolu in Bapatla district.

People are advised not to stand under trees or near large hoardings during heavy winds and thunderstorms. If there are any power lines down due to the rain and winds, they should be kept away as much as possible. As soon as the sky becomes cloudy and thunder is heard, farmers, laborers, and herders working in the fields should be more alert and move to safer areas.
