The handover of the Kunki elephants was held at the Karnataka Vidhan Sabha at 11 am. On behalf of the Karnataka government, the Chief Minister of the state, Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, and Minister for Forest and Environment Eshwar Khandre officially handed over the six Kunki elephants to Andhra Pradesh Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan.
In the state, herds of elephants are destroying crops and in some cases, people are losing their lives. Kunki elephants are needed to prevent these problems.
Pawan Kalyan went to Bengaluru a few months ago to get Kunki elephants from the Karnataka State Forest Department and met the Chief Minister and Forest Minister of that state and explained the problem in his state.
The government there agreed to send six Kunki elephants from his state. It is special that they were handed over today. Official sources said that the names of these elephants are Ranjani, Deva, Krishna, Abhimanyu, and Mahendra.
