The government has tightened its belt to further increase the greenery in the state.

However, it is reported that the government has not released funds for the purchase of saplings and their maintenance so far. The farmers have frankly expressed to the officials that they cannot supply saplings due to arrears to the nursery farmers.

It is reported that the government has sanctioned nominal funds for the cultivation of these saplings in the state, but it seems that it is not enough.

Meanwhile, for the cultivation of plants and their maintenance, the Forest Department has written a letter to the Ministry of Green Andhra Pradesh – MGNREGS Action Plan for the year 2024-25 – increase in nurseries, and has not yet been sanctioned, according to the information

With the aim of making the entire state green, the coalition government has issued orders to the Forest Department and district high officials on a war footing, but the argument is that funds are not being given.

There should be separate manpower for planting, watering and protecting the plants, and the concerned officials are arguing that funds should be sanctioned to pay their amount for that.

To what extent is the government releasing the funds required for the distribution of plants and their maintenance at the state level? The government is owed Rs. 648.458 lakhs for 1042 works under MGNREGS, and to what extent funds have not been released.

The pending payments (as on 28:03.2025) for the works carried out by the Forest Department are:

Visakhapatnam 28,280, Kurnool 7,712, Rajahmundry 35,128, Tirupati 9,280, Anantapur 12,077, and Guntur 3,322, Circle wise, the government has not released funds from the Forest Department till now.

The coalition government has released adequate funds for the plantation and protection of the respective departments and has taken action to ensure that the greenery in the state reaches 50 percent by 2047, including the cultivation of horticulture and forest areas.
