AMARAVATI; Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has expressed happiness over the release of the Gazette Notification by the Railway Ministry for the establishment of the South Coast Railway Zone with Visakhapatnam as its hub.
He said that this is the fulfilment of a long-standing dream of the people of Andhra Pradesh.
The Chief Minister thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav for issuing this historic Gazette at the request of the state.
He announced that this new railway zone with Visakhapatnam as its hub will officially start operations from June 1. As part of the reorganization of the Waltair division, key sections like Palasa-Ichchapuram will be merged with the Visakhapatnam division. This is expected to significantly change the transportation landscape of Uttar Andhra Pradesh.
The Chief Minister further stated that better coordination between the newly formed Visakhapatnam Division and Rayagada Division will strengthen the Railways. He expressed confidence that this development will contribute significantly to the overall growth of the state, especially industrial development in North Andhra.
