Amaravati: TDP State President and Gajuwaka MLA, Sri Palla Srinivasa Rao, participated in a high-level meeting held in the presence of Union Minister for Steel, Sri H.D. Kumaraswamy, and Union Minister of State for Steel, Sri Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma.

Participating in these discussions were the CMD (Chairman and Managing Director) of the steel plant, along with heads of various departments, directors, and other senior officials. Together, they conducted a comprehensive review of the strategy for the revival of the Visakha Steel Plant.

At the outset of the meeting, Sri Palla Srinivasa Rao commended the initiatives undertaken by the Central Government towards the revival of the Visakha Steel Plant.

Noted that a gradual improvement in the plant’s operational and financial health has been observed following the announcement of a financial package, he specifically lauded the efforts of Union Minister for Steel, Sri H.D. Kumaraswamy, for playing a pivotal role in reducing the organization’s debt burden and restoring its production momentum.

On this occasion, he also made special mention of and appreciated the services rendered by former CMD Sri Ajit Kumar Saxena, who played a key role in the plant’s revival process. In the same vein, he praised the current management and officials who are working collectively to steer the organization back onto the path of profitability.

Addressing the meeting, the Union Minister of Steel emphasized that the financial stability of the plant could be strengthened only by reducing production costs. He suggested that, in addition to exercising strict control over operational expenses, efforts must be made to enhance efficiency in performance.

He directed officials to adopt a planned and results-oriented approach. Underscoring the necessity of robust management practices, he stated that ‘sustained profitability’ should be the primary objective of the plant’s ongoing revival process.

Mr. Palla Srinivasa Rao also brought several local issues concerning the steel plant to the attention of the meeting. He specifically highlighted the problems faced by displaced families, the difficulties encountered by R-card (ration card) holders regarding Aadhaar linkage, and the issue of pending wages owed to employees.

Urging immediate intervention to resolve these matters, he emphasized the urgent need to find solutions to them. He asserted that due justice must be ensured for the employees and the displaced persons, who serve as key stakeholders within the plant’s ecosystem.

Speaking on this occasion, Mr. Palla remarked that the Visakha Steel Plant enjoys a unique and esteemed brand identity across the country.

He noted that the steel produced at this plant has earned a reputation for reliability within the construction sector, owing to its superior quality and durability.

He expressed confidence that coordinated measures involving the Centre, the management, and public representatives would not only strengthen the plant but also transform it into a consistently profitable enterprise.
