AMARAVATI: Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has made it clear that he will complete the first phase of Veligonda by July this year and provide irrigation to every acre in Markapuram district.
The Chief Minister commented that he cannot afford to play dirty tricks by cutting ribbons and dedicating the project to the nation without completing it like the previous ruler.
He said that he has kept his promise to form the backward Markapuram area as a new district. He revealed that he is working with the aim of completing various projects across the state and providing irrigation to every acre. He said that a team of retired engineers will be formed to conduct a study for this.
He said that a blueprint will be prepared on the issue of providing irrigation water to every acre. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu laid the foundation stone for the Velugonda Project feeder canal works at a cost of Rs. 456 crore in Gantawani village of Dornala mandal in Markapuram district. He inspected the works along with the farmers.
Later, addressing a public meeting organized in Markapuram, the Chief Minister said, “The state has been destroyed in the last five years. The people gave a 94 percent strike rate to the TDP, BJP and Jana Sena alliance for the reconstruction of the state. They have given a good victory from Araku to Prakasam.
Rs. 9081 crores of funds are required to complete the Veligonda project. So far, we have spent Rs. 5451 crores on the construction of the project. Rs. 484 crores have been spent on land acquisition and Rs. 184 crores on rehabilitation. We have planned to complete this project in two phases. If we spend another Rs. 2,540 crores, the Veligonda work will not be completed.
In the last 20 months, we have spent Rs. 540 crores and the work has been taken up at a fast pace. I have laid the foundation stone for the valuable feeder canal lining work with Rs. 456 crores.
The Chief Minister said that the lives of the people will improve only if we stand by those who do good.”
The goal of the NDA government is to do justice to all sections. Wherever there are poor people, there I will be. As promised in the elections, we have made the Super Six super hit. We are spending Rs. 34 thousand crores every year on pensions.
This year, we have set a target to make one lakh girls industrialists. We are giving three gas cylinders free of cost under the Deepam scheme. We are giving Rs. 20,000 to farmers in three installments under the Annadata Sukhibhav. We will complete Polavaram before Pushkaram in 2027 and dedicate it to the nation.
We will provide Godavari water to Nallamala Sagar. By then, we will complete Nallamala Sagar by July this year and dedicate the Veligonda project to the nation. We still have to spend Rs. 2 thousand crores for this project.
I live for the people and the state. I have no caste or religious differences. The progress of the Telugu nation is important to me. We will bring the poor and weak sections to the fore and provide them with opportunities. People should think about what is good and what is bad…and make the capable win regardless of caste, religion and region,” the Chief Minister urged.

The Chief Minister, who visited Markapuram for the first time after the formation of the new district, received a grand welcome.
