Andhra Pradesh Minister Kandula Durgesh said that CM Chandrababu Naidu has agreed to recognize the “Jagganna Thota Prabhala Theertha” held every year on the occasion of Sankranti in Konaseema district as a state festival.
Konaseema residents brought this issue to the attention of Minister Kandula Durgesh, who was on a tour of Rajolu on Tuesday, and submitted a petition. Minister Durgesh gave clarification.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Kandula Durgesh said that the Jagganna Thota Prabhala Theertha Mahotsava, which is held every year in grandeur amidst the hustle and bustle of lakhs of devotees, is special.
In this context, Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan reminded that as the Tourism Minister, he and the Creative and Cultural Committee Chairperson Tejaswini had on various occasions brought the 450-year-old Prabhala Utsava festival to the attention of the CM to be recognized as a state festival.
He said that lakhs of devotees from all over the state come with their families to this festival, which is a feast for the eyes every year, and immerse themselves in devotional ecstasy. He said that during this Prabhala Theertham, which has been a tradition for many generations, a festive atmosphere prevails and acquires a spiritual charm.

He said that he is happy that the coalition government has declared Prabhala Theertham as a state festival, keeping in mind the aspirations of the people of Konaseema. Minister Durgash called upon all to jointly organize the wonderful event of Jaggannathota Prabhala Tirtha, which is brought in various forms along with Ekadasa Rudras, and to make it a success by showing it to the world.
