If designed, investors, corporate offices and government finance departments will be close, so decisions and transactions will be made faster. Focusing on building infrastructure like metro, trunk roads and iconic towers in one zone can be cost-efficient for the government and banks as well.
A key milestone is set to be achieved towards transforming Andhra Pradesh’s capital Amaravati into a financial and commercial hub. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will lay the foundation stone of new buildings of 25 national, private and public sector banks, including the Reserve Bank of India, in Amaravati on the 28th of this month.
The event will be held at a venue set up near the CRDA headquarters. Foundation stone laying ceremonies for all banks will be held simultaneously. A meeting venue has been set up at the CRDA headquarters.
An agreement was signed in October 2025 for the establishment of the RBI Regional Office. A total of 49.5 acres have been allotted to 11 institutions and 12.66 acres for the residences of officials of banks and government institutions. In the recent CRDA meetings, lands were approved for banks like NABARD, SBI, UBI, Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Canara Bank, Indian Bank, Coastal Local Area Bank.

The foundation stone laying ceremony is key to making Amaravati a world-class financial hub. With the establishment of banks, economic activities and employment opportunities will increase. The establishment of the RBI Regional Office shows the confidence of national institutions. The foundation stone laying ceremony was supposed to be held last month, but was postponed due to the cyclone.
