State Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister P. Narayana has made it clear that the government will take strict action against illegal layouts and structures built without following the rules. A meeting was held with officials and public representatives at the PGRS Hall of the Municipal Corporation office on Wednesday on city development and Pushkara works.
Joint Collector Y. Megha Swaroop, MLAs Adireddy Srinivas, Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdhury, Bathula Balaramakrishna, and Ruda Chairman Boddu Venkataramana participated in this review held under the auspices of Commissioner Rahul Meena.
Speaking on the occasion, Kakinada District In-charge Minister and Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister P. Narayana warned that strict action will be taken against illegal structures. The Minister instructed the officials to implement the LRS/BRS schemes effectively and ensure that no room for mistakes is left. Those who have constructed with deviations should immediately apply for LRS/BRS, otherwise they will be demolished, he warned.
The Minister said that proposals for wide roads are being made to solve traffic congestion, and keeping in mind the increasing traffic in the city, priority is being given to widening roads.
He said that ₹100 crore is required for the construction of an 80-foot road from Bommur to Saraswati Ghat. He said that the proposals for Madhurapudi-Kadiyam and Diwan Cheruvu roads are under consideration.
He said that the construction of drains in municipalities will be undertaken in 3 phases, and a total of Rs. 29,000 crore is required for the construction of drains across the state, which has been divided into three priorities, and allocations will be made accordingly. Rs. 5,000 crores, another Rs. 5,000 crores for the second phase, and Rs. 19,000 crores for the third phase. The minister said that the target is to complete the first phase in three years.
He said that the construction of drains has been proposed in Rajahmundry city by giving first priority to 180 km. The city needs a total of 862 km. Drains, while currently 527 km. Construction has been completed, while 30 km. Work is underway through Amruth.
The minister revealed that out of the remaining 303 km, 180 km has been identified as first priority and an estimated cost of Rs. 65-75 crores has been estimated. He ordered that 40 bonds pending in TDR bonds should be cleared within a month, and henceforth bonds related to land acquisition should be settled within 21 days.
