Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu told the officials that to achieve a stable economy, growth targets should be assessed from time to time and further action should be taken according to the quarterly results.
The CM reviewed the first quarter growth estimates of the state planning department on GSDP for the financial year 2025-26 at the camp office on Tuesday. Expressing satisfaction over the double-digit growth, the Chief Minister advised the officials to work towards achieving the targeted growth of 17.1 percent for this financial year. He wanted to analyze how much target we have set and to what extent we have achieved the results.
The Chief Minister told the officials that many factors such as a long coastline, abundant water resources and better infrastructure would contribute to the development of the state. He wanted to conduct a special study with experts to find out the reasons why some sectors are not making progress. He said that the current 17.08 percent growth achieved in the tourism sector is not enough… There is a possibility of 25 percent growth in this sector. He also wants to meet international targets in growth. He said that focus should be placed on sectors like railways, transport, hotels, communications, banking, insurance, real estate. He said that GSDP details should be recorded in more depth by departments, sectors and constituencies.
State Planning Department officials explained to the Chief Minister that the growth in GSDP in the first quarter of the financial year 2025-26 was higher than the national average. Its value was revealed to be Rs. 3,57,894 crore. While the state recorded a growth of 9.58 percent in the same period last year, it has been possible to achieve 10.50 percent this year.
He said that if the country’s GDP growth rate in the first quarter of this financial year was 8.8 percent, the fact that the state has shown significant progress above proves that it has become economically strong. He said that if we look at the AP GSDP growth by sector, the growth is 11.91 percent in the industry sector, 10.70 percent in the services sector, 9.60 percent in the agriculture sector, and 10.76 percent in GVA.
In the first quarter, the value of animal feed production at current prices was Rs. 46,751 crore (6.65% growth), fisheries-aquaculture Rs. 32,110 crore (14.52% growth), meat production increased from 3.15 lakh metric tons to 3.41 lakh metric tons (8% growth), egg production increased from 62,157 lakh to 67,450 lakh
Mining-quarrying Rs. 10,686 crore (43.54% growth), manufacturing sector Rs. 40,515 crore (9.93% growth), construction sector Rs. 31,550 crore (9.57% growth), road metal, black granite, color granite production increased
Hotels, transport – tourism sector Rs. 25,702 crore (17.92% growth), real estate – professional services Rs. 34,324 crore (11.70% growth), tourists increased from 6.89 crore to 8.07 crore (17.08% growth), air passengers increased from 13.09 lakh to 15.85 lakh (21.1% growth).
