AMARAVATI: Andhra Pradesh TDP chief Palla Srinivas Rao said that when Jagan Mohan Reddy was in power, he insulted Hindu institutions and is now trying to cover up communalism for electoral gains.

He said that politicizing the symbols of the holy Tirumala Swamy and taking them to the legislative assemblies with slogans was a serious crime, and that this is a serious crime of desecrating religious images.

He alleged that the sentiments of devotees in the Tirumala temple premises were hurt due to this effect. Tirumala is traditionally associated with devotional purity. Walking barefoot in the mud streets of the temple is also a time-honored custom, he said, a devotee who is committed to the sanctity of the temple.

Srinivasa Rao has raised allegations regarding the management of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), the trust that manages the Venkateswara hill temple in Tirumala.

When the theft of foreign currency during the counting of the temple parakamani hundi counting during the Jagan regime was exposed, Srinivas questioned why Jagan did not take strict action. Srinivas Rao criticized Jagan for protecting the guilty and abetting it.

He alleged that irregularities were committed in the management of temple resources, including the sale of VIP and service tickets, and instances of black market activities had come to light.

He recalled that during the YSRCP regime, there were over 300 attacks on temples across the state, and the vandalism of the Sri Rama temple in Ramatheertham was an incident that created a sensation across the country.

He also alleged that the long-standing temple traditions were treated with indifference and that controversial appointments in the TTD had further increased public unrest.

He demanded that Jagan Mohan Reddy admit the serious mistakes he had made against Hindu institutions and issue an unconditional apology to the devotees and the wider Hindu community.
