The South and West Zone Weightlifting Championship 2023-24 at Adikavi Nannaya University in East Godavari district Andhra Pradesh, entered its second day on Sunday. Men and women athletes from different states lifted weights in their respective categories.
VC Acharya K. Padmaraju, Registrar Acharya G. Sudhakar, university officials and sports personalities awarded medals to the first, second and third place athletes who excelled in these competitions. In the 61 kg category, Thiruvallur University Rutheswara, Mangalore University Subrahmanyam, Rayalaseema University S. Abdul stood as the first three place winners and received medals. Sam Sundar Raju R of Anna University, Pandurang Gaikwad of Bharati Vidyapeet, C. Dinesh of University of Madras stood as first place winners in the 67 kg category.
In the women’s category, in the 45 kg category, Adikavi Nannaya University student B. Rajeshwari won the first position, Shivaji University Kolhapur Done’s Apeksha Dattari second position, Savitri Boy Poole University Pune’s Harshad stood in the third position and bagged gold, silver and bronze medals. In the 49 kg category, T. Arathi Raghavendra of Shivaji University Kolhapur, Dalvi Soumya of University of Mumbai and B. Chandrika of Adikavi Nannaya University won the first three positions.
In the 55 kg category, University of Calicut Manickam Sheen, Mangalore University Yukthika, Savitribai Phule University Bamane Vaishnavi Gnaneshwari, in the 59 kg category University of Madras TM Keertana, Adikavi Nannaya University M.
