Union Minister for Civil Aviation  said that the development of aviation in the country has doubled in the nine and a half years since Prime Minister Narendra Modi assumed power.

As of 2014, there were 74 airports in the country, and in these nine and a half years, another 75 new airports have come up.  With this, the number of airports in the country has reached 149.  On Sunday, Union Minister Jyotiraditya M Scindia laid the foundation stone for the construction of a new terminal building at Rajamahendravaram Airport in East Godavari district Andhra Pradesh with Rs.347 crore funds.

He said that the new terminal point currently under construction at Rajamahendravaram will have an area of ​​21 thousand 94 square feet and will have the capacity to serve 2,100 passengers during peak hours and will have an annual capacity of 30 lakh passengers every year in the future.  Union Minister Jyoti Raditya Scindia explained that this new terminal will be redesigned with 28 check-in counters, four arrival closures, a car park for 600 cars and a 5-star rating

The Union Minister announced that 18 flights are currently operating at the Rajamahendravaram Airport and will be increased to 25 in the coming days in view of the expansion of the terminal building.  He said that currently 250 passengers are making daily journeys from here, and in the coming days, the airport will be expanded to accommodate more than 1400 passengers.

He said that the latest technology and furniture will be made available in favor of big air services and the key works have been inaugurated today.  Launch Bhogapuram, Mumbai and Delhi airports as green field airports, he said.

Union Minister Jyoti Raditya Scindia said that Rajamahendravaram, which is famous as the cultural capital of Andhra Pradesh, is on the banks of the holy Godavari, and the cultural heritage of this city, which is celebrating thousands of years, is a symbol of the country. Minister added.

State Industries Minister Gudivada Amarnath, MP Margani Bharat Ram, Rajanagaram Legislator Jakkampudi Raja, District Collector Dr. K. Madhavilatha, Joint Collector N.  Tej Bharat, Gopalapuram MLA Talari Venkatarao, BJP state president Daggupati Purandeshwari, Airport Authority Chairman Sanjay Kumar, former president Somu Veerraju, aviation officials and others were present.
