This is a bill to grant rights and representation to the displaced people of Kashmir

The removal of Article 370 has put an end to separatism, leading to a significant reduction in terrorism

On Tuesday, Union Home and Co-operation Minister Shri Amit Shah presented the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization (Amendment) Bill, 2023, and the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation (Amendment) Bill, 2023, for consideration and approval in the Lok Sabha. Shri Amit Shah, while responding in favor of the bills on Wednesday, clarified, “This bill is about giving rights and representation to the displaced people of Kashmir. Previously, only 2 seats were allocated for women, but the Modi government, modifying the bill based on the recommendations of the delimitation commission, has legally implemented the provision of appointing 3 seats, and it is crucial for this august house to support it.”

The entire nation knows that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the skilled guidance of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the voices of all those who had been neglected for 70 years were heard by abolishing Article 370 on August 5 and 6, 2019. For those of whom repealing Article 370 is like a thorn, should understand that delimitation was part of this bill.

For the first time in history, 9 seats have been reserved for Scheduled Tribes, and reservation of seats has been arranged for Scheduled Tribes as well. In Jammu, the seat count has increased from 37 to 43, and in Kashmir, it has increased from 46 to 47. Additionally, 24 seats of Pakistan-administered Kashmir have been kept in reserve. The total number of seats in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly have increased from 107 to 114. Earlier, there were 2 nominated members; now, there will be 5 nominated members. According to the laws of Jammu and Kashmir, the Governor used to nominate 2 women; now, one woman from Kashmir and one from Pakistan-administered Kashmir will be nominated. All this became possible because on August 5 and 6, Narendra Modi passed the historic bill in the cabinet, the august house approved it, and Article 370 was repealed. Delimitation was a part of Article 370.

In the coming days, every Kashmiri who has been oppressed and backward will remember the efforts of this house for both amendments. To deliver justice to those who have been wandering in their own country for years, the Modi-Shah duo has provided reservation for 2 seats and reserved seats for refugees from Pakistan-administered Kashmir. The Modi-Shah duo has also worked on constitutional terms for the weaker and tribal categories. The reservation given will echo in the Kashmir Assembly, and the situation of displacement will never arise again.

From 1994 to 2004, there were a total of 40,164 terrorist incidents. From 2004 to 2014, during Manmohan’s government, there were 7,217 terrorist incidents. From 2014 to 2023, under Narendra Modi’s government, there were only 2,000 terrorist incidents. There is a 72% reduction in civilian deaths and a 59% reduction in security forces’ deaths. Stone-pelting incidents are now zero. Organized strikes no longer occur. Those who used to say that rivers of blood would flow after the removal of Article 370 should now understand that there is no courage left even to throw a stone. Earlier, only terrorists were killed, but now their entire ecosystem is being eradicated. In Jammu and Kashmir, theaters were not operational, but today, 30 years after the removal of Article 370 in the Modi government, theaters have started. Now, people of all religions celebrate festivals happily at Lal Chowk. After the removal of Article 370, there has been a significant reduction in terrorism, and separatism has ended.

Under the leadership of Modi and the guidance of Amit Shah, the image of Kashmir has changed with the removal of Article 370.
