AMARAVATI – TDP state president and Gajuwaka MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao have urged the district administration to expedite corrective measures on long-pending housing, pension and rehabilitation issues.

The meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (Disha) chaired by Visakhapatnam MP
M. Bharat was attended by the District Collector, senior officers of various departments and public representatives. It served as a platform for a comprehensive review of the development and welfare programs undertaken across the district.

Srinivasa Rao expressed concern over the fact that many houses allotted under TIDCO and Rajiv Gruha Kalpa schemes have not been inhabited for a long time. He stated that in some cases, even after almost two decades of allotment, a significant number of beneficiaries have yet to take possession of the units or start living in them.

He asked the officials to identify cases where the allotted houses were not being used by the beneficiaries for a long time, cancel such allotments where necessary and reallocate the units to genuinely deserving poor families waiting for housing assistance.

The MLA also drew attention to the delay in granting pensions to newly eligible widows and disabled persons in Gajuwaka constituency. He asked the DRDA Project Director and the concerned officials to expedite the scrutiny and approval of pending applications.

Several MLAs from Visakhapatnam district, district officials and representatives of various departments attended the meeting.
