Delhi: Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud urged the citizens to exercise their right to vote in the general elections.  The Election Commission has released a video as part of ‘My Vote My Voice’ mission to sensitize people on the right to vote in the wake of the elections.

Justice Chandrachud said, “We are the largest democratic country in the world.  The Constitution has given us many rights as citizens of the country.  Also voting in elections in this democratic country is our main responsibility as citizens.  Is it possible to dedicate five minutes to our country once every five years?  Requesting everyone not to give up their right to vote.  Let’s vote with pride.  “My vote is my voice,” he said.

Chandrachud said that the people have a great opportunity to elect the government in the country and that is why it is written in the constitution that ‘Indian government is by the people and for the people’.  He recalled the excitement and joy he felt when he voted for the first time.  The Lok Sabha elections which started on April 19 will be held till June 1.  The results of this seven-phase election will be announced on June 4.
