Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said that in view of the special circumstances prevailing regarding tobacco, mango and other crop products, there is a need to stand by the farmers. He advised the officials to look at the crop products from a commercial perspective and take steps to ensure that they get the best possible price. The Chief Minister reviewed various issues including the support price of mango, tobacco and cocoa crops at the Secretariat. Today.
In the review, officials explained to the Chief Minister that 80 million kg of HD Burley tobacco was produced this year. Officials said that 27 million kg has been sold so far.
The Chief Minister ordered the immediate purchase of the remaining 53 million kg of HD Burley tobacco. Officials explained that steps have been taken to purchase 33 million kg of tobacco through 24 companies.
Officials informed the CM that arrangements have been made to purchase another 20 million kg of tobacco through AP Mark Fed. Tobacco purchase centers have been started through Bapatla-3, Guntur-2, Palanadu-1, Prakasam-1 purchase centers. Officials brought to the attention of the CM that purchases will be intensified through these from tomorrow.
The CM ordered that the details of the purchase centers and related information be provided to every tobacco farmer.
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu clarified that he has already spoken to the Center on the issue of reducing duty on palm oil and reducing GST on mango pulp from 12 percent to 5 percent. He suggested that officials coordinate with the relevant central government departments on this.
The CM advised the officials to make farmers aware of the crop plan regarding the mango crop from time to time. He said that in order to get the right price for the harvested crop, farmers need to have information about the demand for that crop in the market.
On the other hand, officials informed the CM that 12 thousand metric tons of cocoa has been produced this year. They said that 10 thousand metric tons have already been sold. They said that 80 to 100 metric tons are being purchased every day.
The CM suggested that the best grading methods should be implemented to increase exports as per the requirements of the international market.

In this meeting, Agriculture Minister Atchannaidu, senior officials of the Agriculture and Horticulture departments and others participated in the review through video conference.
