State government Chief Secretary
K. Vijayanand has directed the officials to pay special attention to the private temples in the state and the influx of devotees in them.
He conducted a review of the activities of the organization and people’s perception at the RTGS in the Secretariat on Monday. Speaking on the occasion, he said that there will be a lot of devotees in all the temples as there will be a series of festivals and special days in the coming days.
He said that the district authorities should also focus on monitoring the private temples under their jurisdiction. He asked the private temple administrators to inform the authorities in advance about the number of devotees who can visit the respective temples during festivals and days and the steps taken by the temple administrators to control the crowd.
He also said that prior to controlling the crowd of devotees, permission should be taken from the police and appropriate security arrangements should be made there. He instructed the officials to prevent any untoward incidents from happening at the temples.
He said that a code of conduct should be formulated and issued to all private temples regarding the crowd control of devotees coming to the temples during Vaikuntha Ekadashi, Dhanurmasam and other festivals and the steps to be taken by the temple administrators and religious workers.
He said that the authorities should not be negligent in thinking that private temples are not their purview. Although the responsibility for the management of private temples lies with the private temple administrators and temple devotees, they should ensure tight security at the temples during rush hours. Vijayanand ordered that cleanliness be given top priority in the temples. He ordered that strict measures be taken to prevent lack of sanitation in the temples and to prevent stampedes during rush hours.

Vijayanand advised the agriculture department officials to act according to the plan from now on to avoid any shortage of fertilizers for the Rabi season. Responding to this, the agriculture department officials said that they have already eliminated the shortage of fertilizers anywhere and that fertilizers are being made available to farmers in abundance.
