Medical Health and Family Welfare Minister Satya Kumar Yadav said that the state government is taking steps to strengthen the AYUSH sector, which is a symbol of Indian cultural traditions.
On Friday, the PG students and house surgeons of the AYUSH department were felicitated by Minister Satya Kumar Yadav at the premises of the local Dr. NTR Health University for increasing the stipends.
On this occasion, Minister Satya Kumar Yadav said that the state of Andhra Pradesh is developing the AYUSH sector to make it an ideal one for the country. Understanding the situation of the students, the state government has increased the stipend. The center has allocated Rs. 166 crores have been sanctioned. He said that new Ayurveda colleges have been sanctioned in Dharmavaram and Kakinada.
He said that steps are being taken to preserve our ancient Indian Ayush, Unani and other medical systems. He said that some decisions have been taken to inform future generations of its uniqueness.
He said that the Central Government is also providing full support for this. He said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has recognized the importance of AYUSH and has set up a ministry for it. He said that yoga and pranayama, which are part of AYUSH, have been popularized worldwide.
He said that five new hospitals and three colleges of the AYUSH department are going to be set up in the state. He said that a total of 500 posts of teaching staff and non-teaching staff are going to be recruited to further strengthen the AYUSH system.
He said that the State Government has sanctioned a fund of Rs. 3 crores for the Vijayawada Ayurveda College. Integrated Ayurveda colleges have been sanctioned in Visakhapatnam and Kakinada.
After the coalition government came to power, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu allotted land for the institute in Prathipadu, Amaravati area, and is trying to complete the construction and make it available in the next 2 years. This will make the latest technology in AYUSH available and will be very beneficial for students to conduct advanced research.
Speaking, AYUSH Department Director Dinesh Kumar said that the stipend for PG students in the state has been increased and a record has been created. Compared to the past, many reforms have been brought in the AYUSH department. Medical students should take advantage of the incentives given by the government and take the initiative.
