AMARAVATI –  Visakhapatnam Gajuwaka should also become a key hub in the state’s digital economy.

AP TDP party chief Palla Srinivas Rao said that about 400 acres of government land on Yarada Hill and another 175 acres of refractory sector near Aganampudi should be developed as special IT and knowledge-based industrial zones.

A comprehensive review meeting was held with the district high officials at the Collectorate on Wednesday. In this meeting, Srinivas Rao mainly focused on the expansion of infrastructure, rehabilitation issues and employment generation.

The meeting discussed several long-pending civil and industrial issues affecting the locality. He made it clear that a comprehensive development plan should be implemented that strikes a balance between industrial expansion and social justice for the displaced communities.

The long-standing boundary dispute between the Steel Plant and Saniwada areas needs a permanent administrative solution, and the families who have been displaced have not yet received the house plots and pattas promised during land acquisition.

The rehabilitation and livelihood of families displaced due to the Gangavaram Port Project was also reviewed.

The pending development works under the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority and APIIC issues related to Pharma City are still pending for 300 homeless families from Pharma City colonies.

He said that the District Collector has assured that the issue of additional land allotment will be brought to the notice of the government so that the genuine beneficiaries do not suffer from official delays anymore.

The MLA pointed out that there are many civic shortcomings in the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation, including shortage of drinking water, dilapidated roads, blockages in sewage drainage, and sanitation problems.

The problems of the people are unresolved indefinitely and should be resolved immediately with coordination between the respective departments. Srinivas Rao stated that his main goal is to develop the city, create employment for the youth, and provide justice to the displaced.
