AMARAVATI: Respecting women is an integral part of Indian culture, but what happened in Parliament is against it, he said. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah have assured that injustice will not be done to the southern and small states and that seats will be increased by 50 percent in many states, including Andhra Pradesh.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has criticized the opposition parties led by the Indian National Congress for blocking the Women’s Reservation Bill in Parliament. He described it as a betrayal of the country, especially women.
The Chief Minister participated in a protest rally organized by NDA alliance parties in Nidadavol today.
Leaders of Telugu Desam, Bharatiya Janata Party and Jana Sena parties held a protest march holding placards and raising slogans against the opposition’s stance.
Chandrababu Naidu described the day the bill was stalled as a “black day” in the history of Indian democracy. He demanded that the opposition parties apologize to women. He accused them of denying women their due political representation and treating them only as vote banks.
The Chief Minister announced that the protest movement would be intensified and taken to every household. He said that this was just the beginning and that the agitation would be intensified further after discussions with Pawan Kalyan.
Chandrababu Naidu recalled that the TDP government had passed a resolution in the Assembly in 2017 supporting women’s reservation, but the Congress had failed to introduce even a single such bill during its tenure. Citing baseless concerns about regional disparities, he alleged that opposition parties had deliberately blocked the bill from getting the required two-thirds majority.
“Women constitute half the population and are excelling in every field. If they have representation in the legislatures, justice will be done. Blocking this bill is an unforgivable act and an insult to the dignity of women,” he said.
He questioned how such parties can ask for votes from women after they have obstructed their empowerment and called on the people to hold them accountable.

BJP state president PVN Madhav, Jana Sena minister Kandula Durgesh and several leaders from TDP, BJP and Jana Sena participated in the protest rally.
