In Vasavi Penugonda, West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, the self-sacrifice day of Sri Vasavi Kanyaka Parameshwari Ammavari was celebrated with devotion and reverence as a state festival on Tuesday.

On this occasion, Minister Ramanayudu and his wife, along with MLA Pithani Satyanarayana, were first welcomed with temple honors by Vedic scholars. They then offered silk garments to the Goddess on behalf of the government.  Following this, special prayers were offered to the Goddess.

Amidst the chanting of mantras by Vedic scholars, Minister Nimmala Ramanayudu and his wife, and MLA Pithani Satyanarayana were specially honored. The Vasavi Penugonda temple was bustling with devotees. A large number of devotees from various states and districts flocked to the temple to have darshan of the Goddess and participate in the special prayers.

On this occasion, the State Water Resources Minister, Dr. Nimmala Ramanayudu, said that it is a matter of great pride to celebrate the self-sacrifice day of Sri Vasavi Kanyaka Parameshwari Ammavari as a state festival.

He clarified that the government is committed to the development of the Arya Vysya community. He said that Vasavi Mata, who stood for righteousness, is a symbol of immortality. He added that the state government paid rich tributes to Sri Vasavi Mata, who stood as a symbol of sacrifice, truth, and righteousness.

He said that the life of Vasavi Ammavari, the great figure of sacrifice who gave her life for righteousness, is exemplary.  Minister Dr. Nimmala Ramanaidu expressed his wish that the message of Goddess Vasavi should not be limited to any particular caste or religion, but should uphold peace, unity, and the path of truth in society.

The program was attended by Endowments Department Commissioner K. Ramachandra Mohan, Joint Collector Rahul Kumar Reddy, Endowments Department RJC V. Trinadha Rao, DC Ramesh Babu, District Endowments Officer Surya Prakash, State Arya Vysya Corporation Chairman Parepalli Rakesh, devotees from various regions, and others.
