The Polavaram main dam is almost complete. We are taking steps to complete the embankment works by June of this year. We have ordered that the ECRF Dam Gap-2 works be completed by March of next year. He clarified that the rehabilitation and R&R works should be completed within 12 months.

We have also instructed that the land acquisition necessary for rehabilitation be carried out expeditiously. We are going to establish the largest inland waterways. We will increase connectivity through the Polavaram right and left canals and tunnels, said Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.

Today, he inspected the construction of the Polavaram project and the ongoing works. Later, speaking to the media, he said:

We will dedicate the Polavaram project to the nation as soon as possible. If the diaphragm wall construction had been completed earlier, the construction would have been done with only Rs. 440 crores. The project would also have been completed quickly.

After the change of government in 2019, the Polavaram project suffered a lot of damage. Even though the diaphragm wall was damaged, the previous government took a long time to recognize it.

Due to the negligence of the previous government, the completion of the Polavaram project construction was delayed by six or seven years. Due to this delay, the costs have increased.

An additional burden of Rs. 1000 crore has been incurred for the construction of the diaphragm wall. We will complete the construction of the diaphragm wall by February 15th of next year. We are taking steps to complete the left canal and work quickly. We will take Polavaram water to Visakhapatnam.

We will take steps to ensure that all the Polavaram project works are completed by March of next year. The goal is to complete the project and bring it into operation by December 2027.

He criticized the Pattiseema project. He said that without Pattiseema, it would not have been possible to provide water to Rayalaseema. The Chief Minister said that Polavaram must be completed, the rivers must be interlinked, and the state must be transformed into a drought-free region.
