A total of 37 deer from Visakhapatnam Zoo reached NSTR from NFCL Kakinada Deer Park on 17th, healthy and they were released by the forest officials in the enclosure without any problems.

Kakinada NFCL has been running the deer park for many years.  It is authorized by CZA.  Officials said the CZA has now revoked their license due to management and budget constraints.

Chief Wildlife Warden, District Forest Officer S. Bharani in collaboration with Veterinarian Dr. Aaron Wesley took up the capture and translocation operation, Visakhapatnam Zoo Veterinarians and Tirupati Zoo Veterinarians started the work.  The boma structure is designed to hold the deer gently without putting any pressure on the animal.

It is the 1st Boma structure in entire South India and among the very few in the country.  Trap cages are designed with scientific precision at NFCL with instructions from veterinarians and experts.  There are about 200 deer in the enclosure.  37 deer were captured using Boma technique.
