Extensive arrangements are underway for the SAARAS (Sale of Articles of Rural Artisans Society) exhibition. This exhibition will be held from January 3 to January 15 at the Green Leaf Tobacco Threshold premises near the Manipuram bridge on Kakani Road in Guntur.
Approximately 600 women from Self-Help Groups (SHGs) from Andhra Pradesh and several other states are participating in this grand exhibition. A total of about 250 stalls will showcase and sell handloom fabrics, handicrafts, sarees, shawls, carpets, bedsheets, bamboo, metal and glass products, traditional and organic food items, jewelry, home decor items, and other food products.
This exhibition is being organized under the auspices of the Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP), in collaboration with the Guntur District Rural Development Agency. The main objective of this exhibition is to provide market opportunities for products made by women from self-help groups, increase their income sources, and strengthen the livelihoods of rural women.
District Collector A. Thameem Ansaria has already issued instructions to officials to take coordinated action according to a robust plan to successfully organize the Saras Exhibition 2026 to be held in Guntur. She stated that Guntur city was chosen as the venue considering the heavy public footfall during the festive season, better transportation facilities, and marketing opportunities.
She directed the municipal corporation officials to ensure sanitation and other necessary infrastructure at the exhibition venue.
She also instructed that cultural programs be organized at the exhibition every evening. She directed the DRDA and MEPMA officials to identify suitable accommodation facilities for the members of self-help groups who will be setting up stalls from various parts of the state and other states.

She said that stalls showcasing the famous products of the district should be set up and directed all the officials to work collectively to make the exhibition a grand success.
