The NDA coalition government is taking steps to establish the village self-government dreamed by Gandhiji. The state is receiving support and cooperation under the leadership of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and the NDA coalition government under the leadership of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has brought many reforms in the Panchayati Raj and Rural Development departments, said Andhra Pradesh Deputy CM Konidela Pawan Kalyan.

On Thursday, Deputy CM Konidela Pawan Kalyan inaugurated 77 Divisional Development Offices set up across the state from Chittoor in connection with the Panchayati Raj and Rural Development departments in a virtual manner.

He said that in the spirit of the 73rd Constitutional Amendment, several reforms have been brought in the Panchayat Raj and Rural Development departments, as part of which 77 Divisional Development Offices have been opened in the state.

He said that the Zilla Parishad department and the Zilla Panchayat department have been integrated. He also said that the DPO level officer has been elevated to the rank of Deputy Director.

At the village level, 7,244 clusters have been abolished and 13,350 Gram Panchayats have been converted into self-governing bodies, and a Panchayat Secretary has been appointed for each Panchayat. A Gazetted Officer has been appointed as Panchayat Development Officer for Gram Panchayats with a population exceeding 10,000.

The existing 5 grades of Panchayat Secretaries have been divided into three grades and the name of Panchayat Secretary has been changed to Panchayat Development Officer. He said that a special IT wing has been set up to strengthen Panchayat Raj institutions.

The Panchayat Raj Commissioner said that as part of the administrative reforms of the Panchayat Raj and Rural Development departments,
with the orders given by the government, there will now be a divisional level officer for the Panchayat Raj department. These posts can also be filled through Group 1. The Panchayat Raj Commissioner said that it is a great opportunity for the youth who are looking for government jobs.

With the establishment of Divisional Development Offices for the Panchayat Raj department on the lines of RDO at the division level, they will have the same level of powers as APD and DLDO, and they will also conduct reviews in the MGNREGAS and Panchayat Raj departments, said the Chittoor District Collector.
