Ahead of the 30th CII Partnership Summit to be held in Visakhapatnam on 14th and 15th, MoUs have been signed with the state government. Renew Power, a leading company in the renewable energy sector, has come forward to invest Rs. 82,000 crore in the state. To this end, Renew Power signed a memorandum of understanding with the state government in Visakhapatnam in the presence of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Minister Nara Lokesh.

Chief Minister Chandrababu met Renew Power Chairman and CEO Sumanth Sinha on Thursday. The Chief Minister explained that AP is at the forefront in the renewable energy sector and that their goal is to provide electricity to consumers at low prices along with environmental protection.

On this occasion, Sumanth Sinha praised the Andhra Pradesh government for following the best policies in terms of investments and giving fast approvals. Sumanth revealed that they are ready to meet the huge electricity demand arising in the wake of the Google data center coming to Visakhapatnam.

As announced by Minister Lokesh, Renew Power, which left the state during the previous government’s tenure in the energy sector, is making huge investments in the state again during the coalition government’s tenure. It has signed four MoUs worth Rs. 60 thousand crores. Renew Power, which had come forward to invest Rs. 22 thousand crores earlier… will invest a total of Rs. 82,000 crores in the state.

As part of the agreement, it will set up a 6 gigawatt ingot-wafer plant, a 2 gigawatt pumped hydro project, a 300 ktpa green ammonia capacity, and 5 gigawatts of wind-solar and battery energy storage system hybrid projects.

The latest MoUs will provide direct and indirect employment to the youth of the state. Renew Power has already decided to set up one of the largest hybrid renewable energy projects in India, a 2.8 GW power plant in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh. It will include 1.8 GW of solar and 1 GW of wind. It will also set up a 2 GW battery energy storage system.

On the other hand, the Chief Minister discussed with Renew Power Chairman Sumanth Sinha how profitable it would be if farmers themselves produced solar and wind power in uncultivable and fallow lands in the state… and how much income they would get per acre. The Chief Minister also revealed that since the prices of solar panels are high, they will be encouraged to set up manufacturing units in the state in large numbers.
