However, after the coalition government came to power, the previous tenders were closed and other financial issues were brought to a conclusion and the old structures were studied with IIT experts and they are moving forward, said Minister Narayana.
Currently, all the work has started in the capital.He said that by the end of March next year, 2026 the construction of 4,000 houses for officials and employees will be completed.
They said that the roads and drainage works will also be almost completed by the same time.However, they said that the layout and road designs will be finalized by the end of this month by IIT experts.
The minister said that the canal designs for flood prevention in the capital have been done by the Dutch authorities. In the capital, the Kondaveeti Vagu is 23.6 km long, the Palavagu is 16.5 km long, and the Gravity Canal is 7.843 km long, making a total of 47.94 km wide and deep.
The minister said that along with these, the Sakhamuru reservoir is being constructed with a capacity of 0.03 TMC on 50 acres, the Krishnayapalem reservoir with a capacity of 0.1 TMC on 190 acres, and the Neerukonda reservoir with a capacity of 0.4 TMC on 440 acres.
He said that due to this, the canal works are progressing a little slowly.Although the target was set to complete the works by October 2027, Minister Narayana said that the works are being carried out at a fast pace to complete them by the end of next year.
