Some journalists have requested Minister P Narayana in a petition to re-implement the project, alleging that the government in power between 2014-2019 had allocated 30 acres for the housing project for the Amaravati Journalists Housing Society.

The state government should take immediate action on this and direct the authorities to construct a model journalists’ colony in the Happy Nest model with international standards in the country with some concessions from the government, and a copy of the order given by the government was also handed over to Minister Narayana on this occasion, the journalist representatives who met him announced.

However, on 27-6-2025, the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) had sought information from a journalist belonging to a media center in Vijayawada under the Right to Information Act, stating whether housing construction is being carried out for press representatives and if so, on how many acres. In response to the request for clarification from the APCRDA under the Right to Information Act on 25-5-2025, the APCRDA stated that no proposals for housing construction have been received within its jurisdiction.

CRDA also stated that there are no proposals asking for land for the construction of the Andhra Pradesh Press Academy building or the Information Department building, and that it has not received any proposals from any recognized union so far for the construction of offices of recognized journalist associations.

The Chief Minister should examine the conditions of journalists and provide accommodation to journalists under the CRDA for free or at a nominal cost, after identifying the services of journalists and examining their experience
