The Krishna river is in flood due to the rains in the upper reaches. The flood flow is increasing hourly, and the Srisailam reservoir has reached its maximum water level. Currently, 1,72,705 cusecs of flood are coming in from Sunkesula and Jurala.

The full water level of the Srisailam reservoir is 885 feet, but it has now reached 881.60 feet. The reservoir’s water storage capacity has already reached 196.56 TMC against the 215 TMC. In this order, 67,563 cusecs of water are being released to Nagarjuna Sagar by generating electricity in the Srisailam Right and Left Ganga Hydropower Stations.

Earlier, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, dressed in traditional silk clothes, had a darshan of Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamyvarla in Srisailam and then reached the Srisailam project.

The state Chief Minister, who was walking on the project along with local farmers, was welcomed by the temple Vedic scholars with auspicious instruments and Vedic mantras.

The CM visited the photo exhibition set up by the Irrigation Department regarding the Srisailam project and the schematic diagram map of Rayalaseema projects. The officials explained the aspects related to the project to the Chief Minister.

Later, water was offered to Krishnamma and silk clothes were presented to Krishnamma amidst the cheers of the farmers.

Later, radial gates 6, 7, 8 and 11 of the Srisailam project were opened and water was released downstream. The Chief Minister was thrilled to see the Krishnamma River flowing downstream with its rapids.

Along with the Chief Minister, Irrigation Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu, District Ministers BC Janardhan Reddy, NMD Farooq, MP Byreddy Sabari, MLA Budda Rajasekhar Reddy, District Collector Rajakumari Ganiya, Water Resources Department CEO S. Kabir Bhasha, Irrigation officials, representatives of water associations, farmers, district officials and others participated in this program.
