AMARAVATI – The formal inauguration of the South Coast Railway Zone (SCoR) with Visakhapatnam as its centre is the culmination of decades of public struggle, generations of aspirations and the collective determination of the people of North Andhra Pradesh, said TDP state president and Gajuwaka MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao. In a statement released here on Sunday, he said that it is a victory for every Telugu citizen who has supported the long-standing demand for a separate railway zone for this region.
He said that the establishment of the railway zone is the culmination of the continuous struggle waged by the Telugu Desam Party for three decades in Parliament and through public movements. The official inauguration of this zone from June 1 is the fulfillment of the long-standing aspirations of the people of Andhra Pradesh.
Srinivasa Rao said that the South Coast Railway Zone stands as a rare example. He expressed the efforts of several leaders and workers who have fought tirelessly for this goal over the years.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu played a key role in ensuring the implementation of the promises in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act.
Srinivas Rao said that this success was achieved through continuous monitoring and constant consultations with the Central Government.
He welcomed the recent announcement by Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav that the future bullet train project with Visakhapatnam as its hub is under consideration. He said that with the zonal headquarters now in Visakhapatnam, local priorities will get more priority and administrative decisions can be taken more quickly.
The emergence of the South Coast Railway Zone is a matter of great pride for Andhra Pradesh and is the 18th railway zone in the country, covering about 4,000 km and covering about 99 percent of the state’s railway network.
He expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, Union Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu, Visakhapatnam MP M. Sribharat, Union Minister Pemmasani Chandrasekhar and Railway Standing Committee Chairman C. M. Ramesh for the successful implementation of this project.
