AMARAVATI: The government machinery is fully engaged in capturing the tiger that is creating serious chaos in the areas surrounding Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh. For the past four days, this tiger has been roaming in various areas of Rajahmundry Rural and Rajanagaram mandals and has so far attacked one cow and three calves. Officials stated that it ate one of the calves.

The District Collector and concerned officials are monitoring the tiger’s movements minute-by-minute, along with forest officials, revenue officials, police, and village leaders. Strong efforts are underway to capture the tiger and release it back into the forest. A team of experts from Pune specializing in tranquilizer injections has already arrived in Rajahmundry.

Under the guidance of the Rajahmundry Forest Department CCF, forest teams are conducting surveillance in the areas where the tiger has been sighted. Officials stated that the Forest, Police, Revenue, and Municipal departments are taking coordinated action.

They revealed that special rescue teams have arrived in Rajamahendravaram, and under the guidance of the CCF (Chief Conservator of Forests) Rajamahendravaram, forest teams have intensified efforts to track the tiger using thermal drones, trap cages, and trap cameras. Veterinary doctors and wildlife experts have been deployed, and arrangements have been made to capture the tiger as soon as its tracks are found.

Officials estimate that the tiger might return to the hunting spot where the incident occurred in the morning, and people within a 1-kilometer radius of the incident site should evacuate. The Collector appealed to the public to remain calm and cooperate with the teams.

People should be extremely vigilant and strictly follow the instructions of the authorities. They should not leave their homes unnecessarily.
If the tiger is sighted, they should immediately inform the Forest Department or the police. Officials emphasized that public cooperation is crucial.

Officials stated that the tiger is a very sensitive animal and observes its surroundings. Taking photos or videos when the tiger is spotted could affect its movements.

They advised against making noises or attempting to distract the tiger if its tracks are found.
They clarified that there have been no incidents of the tiger attacking humans so far. Disturbing the tiger could hinder the efforts of the forest and expert teams to capture it. The district administration appealed to people in the areas where the tiger is roaming not to venture outside. District Collector Keerthi Chekuri, along with local MLA Bathula Balaramakrishna, SP D. Narasimha Kishore, Municipal Commissioner Rahul Meena, and DFO B. Prabhakara Rao, conducted an on-site inspection.

Principal Chief Conservator of Forests P.V. Chalapathi Rao, CCF B.N.N. Murthy, DFO Prabhakara Rao, FRO S. Davidraju Naidu, NTCA officer Rajasekhar, and veterinary doctor Dr. Phanindra are continuously monitoring the situation.
