State Housing & Information and Public Relations Minister Kolusu Parthasarathy said that the coalition government is working with the aim of providing houses and house sites to all the eligible poor in the state.

Speaking after the cabinet sub-committee meeting held at the state secretariat on Friday, Minister Kolusu Parthasarathy said that the previous government had cheated the people by giving cents and cents of land in areas that were not suitable for habitation and construction. He said that the Jagan government had convinced the beneficiaries in such layouts where construction could not take place and the possibility of legally canceling them and giving them two or three cents again was discussed in today’s meeting.

He said that in many places, private lands were collected for the construction of these layouts and due to non-payment of money to the land owners, the beneficiaries were not even given the pattas. Similarly, the land owners were not paid and faced many difficulties and suffered serious losses.

He said that a lengthy discussion was held in the sub-committee meeting on how to resolve this issue and provide justice to the beneficiaries. He said that the next sub-committee meeting, which will also hold another meeting at the level of officials on this issue, will take an appropriate decision on the future action plan.

He said that it is the policy of his government to provide house plots to journalists and construct houses. However, in the wake of the Supreme Court verdict, he said that he will consult the Advocate General to examine the possibility of providing house plots to journalists by overcoming the legal obstacles and after their opinion, he will discuss with the state Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu and take an appropriate decision in the next meeting.

The minister said that a suitable decision will be taken to build houses on the land allotted to journalists.
