(UAE) Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has expressed deep concern over the travel bus accident that took place near Kurnool in the early hours of today and has ordered ministers and officials to immediately reach the spot and take up rescue operations.

It is noteworthy that a private travel bus going from Hyderabad to Bengaluru met with an accident near Chinnatekur village in Kallur mandal of Kurnool district and caught fire, resulting in several deaths and injuries. The injured have been shifted to Kurnool General Hospital.

The Chief Minister, who is on a three-day visit to the UAE, held a teleconference with ministers and officials as soon as he received the information and asked them to immediately go to the accident site. He spoke to the ministers, the Chief Secretary, the DGP and the Kurnool district collector and asked them to take immediate steps to identify the bodies and hand them over to their relatives. An inquiry has been ordered into the incident.

On the orders of the Chief Minister, Transport Minister M. Ramprasad Reddy, Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha and Director General of Police Harish Kumar Gupta reached the spot.

The Transport Minister directed the transport officials to check the fitness and permits of private travel buses, giving priority to public safety.

Speaking on the occasion, Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha expressed deep concern over the accident and assured the families of the victims that the government would help them. An ex-gratia of Rs. 5 lakh was announced for the families of those who died in the accident and Rs. 2 lakh each for the injured.

Meanwhile, Ministers K. Atchannaidu, BC Janardhana Reddy, Satyakumar Yadav, NMD Farooq, TG Bharat, Anagani Satyaprasad and other ministers expressed deep concern over the incident and condoled the deaths of the passengers.
