AMARAVATI:  AP officials have already submitted the gazette notification recognizing Amaravati as the capital to the Cabinet Secretariat. Andhra Pradesh.

The proposal is likely to get approval in the next Union Cabinet meeting. Only the Cabinet Secretariat clearance, which is crucial for further approvals of the project, is pending.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has approved the file received from the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.

A total of 22.53 acres of land has been allocated for central construction in Amaravati. The AP government has offered 22.53 acres of land for CPWD.

Out of this, 5.53 acres have been allocated for the construction of the secretariat and 17 acres for the establishment of residential complexes (GPRA).

The construction work of central government offices in Amaravati is likely to accelerate as soon as the clearance is received from the Cabinet Secretariat.
