US President Donald Trump posted a picture of the famous India Gate in New Delhi on his social media platform ‘Truth Social’. While praising the Indian historical monument, Trump commented, “India’s beautiful victory monument, ours will be even greater.”
Trump’s proposal is to build a massive Triumphal Arch in Washington D.C. to commemorate 250 years of American independence. He has once again brought his plan to the forefront with this structure, which is being called the ‘Independence Arch’. He intends to build it with the slogan “250 feet tall to commemorate 250 years of independence.” Once completed, this arch will be much taller than the White House (70 feet) and the Lincoln Memorial (100 feet) in the US capital.
Comparing it to famous structures around the world, Trump stated that his arch would be larger than the Arc de Triomphe in Paris (164 feet) and the world’s largest arch in Mexico City (220 feet). Meanwhile, the India Gate is 138 feet tall. It was built to commemorate the Indian soldiers who lost their lives in the First World War.
However, it is learned that the official designs for this massive project proposed by Trump have not yet been finalized, and construction permits have also not been obtained. It is likely that this prestigious structure will take some more time to materialize.
