Serious Allegations of Custodial Death: TGHRC Orders Probe
Telangana Human Rights Commission (TGHRC), in SR Nos.4129 and 4130 of 2025, has taken serious cognizance of allegations of illegal detention, custodial torture, and the custodial death of Karla Rajesh, as raised by his mother Mrs. Karla Lalitha and social activist Mr. Manda Krishna Madiga. The Commission noted allegations that the deceased was unlawfully detained by Chilkur and Kodad Rural Police, subjected to third-degree methods, falsely implicated, denied access to family, and later succumbed to severe injuries after being shifted from sub-jail to government hospitals. Considering the gravity of the human rights violations alleged, the Commission clubbed the cases with an earlier complaint (SR No.3693/2025) on the same issue and directed the Principal Secretary to Government, Home Department, Telangana, to submit a detailed report, while fixing the matter for further consideration on 12.01.2026.
