BHARATH NEWS DIGITAL: AMARAVATHI : GUNTUR DISTRICT PONNUR TOWN POLICE PARADED THE ACCUSED IN A RAPE CASE ON THE MAIN ROAD BEFORE PRESENDING HIM IN COURT.
Ponnur Town Circle Inspector Veera Naik revealed that they have arrested the accused and initiated legal action in connection with the brutal rape of a woman residing in a colony under the Ponnur Town Police Station limits. Speaking on the occasion, he warned that strict action will be taken against those who engage in illegal and anti-social activities.
According to the details revealed by the Circle Inspector, on the night of December 18, 2025, they received a complaint that the accused, Nallamothu Varukumar, a resident of Chintalapudi village in Ponnur mandal, illegally entered a woman’s residence, threatened her with a knife, inflicted injuries, and forcibly committed rape. Based on the victim’s complaint, a case was registered against the accused under Sections 64(1), 329(4), and 118(1) of the BNS Act, and an investigation was launched, said Circle Inspector Veera Naik.
He stated that the accused was arrested as part of the investigation. He further added that with the intention of creating awareness among the public that the law will deal very strictly with those who commit such heinous crimes, he and his staff paraded the accused from the Ponnur Town Police Station on the main road before presenting him in the Ponnur court. He said that the Guntur district police department gives utmost priority to the safety and security of women and girls. He stated that crimes against women and children will not be tolerated under any circumstances. He made it clear that strict action will be taken against those who commit such crimes.
The Ponnuru Town Circle Inspector also urged the public to immediately inform the nearest police station or police officers, or to call 112, if they notice any crimes being committed against women or girls.
