With financial assistance from the Center, the Visakhapatnam Steel Industry should reach 92.5% of the plant’s production capacity by the end of the third quarter of the coming year. The stakeholders will work together to achieve this goal, and Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has assured the state government’s full support to restore the steel plant to its former glory.

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has confirmed that the state government is committed to strengthening and protecting the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant.
He said that significant progress has been made in production last year with the support of the central government and the cooperation of the state government, which is a welcome development. He stressed that the management, workers, employees and both the central and state governments should continue to work together to bring the plant out of losses and strengthen it further.
The CM said that this progress is visible as a result of the steps taken last year, collective decision-making and coordination, he said.
On Monday, a review meeting was held at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat with state government officials and senior officials of the steel plant, focusing on strengthening the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant and driving it towards maximum production capacity. During the review, he assessed the steps taken and results achieved in the last year.
After the formation of the coalition government, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu had sought financial assistance from the Centre for the protection of the plant. As a result of the coalition government’s efforts, the Centre has sanctioned financial assistance of ₹11,440 crore to the plant. A major part of this fund has already been released and is currently being used to bring the plant back on track.
In the past year, with the central assistance and continuous support of various state government departments, the production capacity has increased significantly. In September last year, only 25% of the plant’s capacity was being utilized, but by this September it has reached 79%. The Chief Minister described this as a very positive development and directed the steel plant officials to move forward.
He directed that the plant’s production capacity should reach 92.5% by the end of the third quarter.
He stressed that all stakeholders should work together to achieve this goal. The Chief Minister assured that the state government would extend full cooperation to restore the steel plant to its former glory. He also announced that the performance and progress of the plant would be reviewed every three months. In addition, he directed that a monthly review be conducted at the Chief Secretary level.
